The
Coordinating Council of Broward (CCB) produces The Broward Benchmarks
to help establish a basis for assessing the progress of Broward County in
addressing its most urgent issues. The
data collected organizes nearly 300 indicators into the seven distinct
sections that are identified below. There
is a strong focus on indicators that measure outcomes. Data
collection for the report is a collaborative process, with two major
component parts. Approximately
every two years, The CCB teams with Professional Research Consultants, Inc.
to conduct the Broward County Quality of Life Survey, a telephone survey of
Broward County residents. These
public opinion surveys were conducted in 1997, 1999/2000, 2002, 2004, 2006
and 2008. The results of each
survey are available in a real time database where cross-tabulations can be
created on the fly. In
addition, reports and slide presentations for the surveys starting with
1999/2000 are available at www.sfrpc.com/ccb/prchome.htm. The
other primary component of the data collection is the continuous updating of
secondary data from administrative sources, carried out by stakeholder
groups in Broward County that have volunteered to be responsible for
specific sections of the report. Currently
designated stakeholders are:
The
South Florida Regional Planning Council staff compiles the document and
updates indicators for which no stakeholder group has taken responsibility.
Links are provided below to full editions of the report through 2002.
Starting with the 2002 edition, The CCB has published the Selected
Quality of Life Indicators, a more in-depth look at approximately 60 of
the most significant indicators. Spreadsheets
with the full sets of indicators for editions after 2002 are available upon
request from Dick Ogburn (rogburn@sfrpc.com). As
part of the update process for 2008, stakeholders made a series of slide
presentations at meetings of the Quality of Life Committee.
Those presentations are posted below: ·
