Miami-Dade County Lake Belt


In December 1998, the South Florida Regional Planning Council (SFRPC) entered into an agreement with the South Florida Water Management District to manage the process for development of the Lake Belt Phase II Detailed Master Plan.  A master plan is needed to ensure that future land uses, infrastructure, and recreational opportunities are consistent with the purposes established in Chapter 373.4149, Florida Statutes, Dade County Lake Belt Plan.

 

Background
Information pertaining to the Lake Belt Area, the creation and directives of the Lake Belt Committee, and the role of the SFRPC in the development of the Phase II Master Plan.

The Lake Belt Area is an 89 square mile area located between the Everglades and the urbanized areas of Miami-Dade County. 

 

Meetings
The Lake Belt Committee holds regularly scheduled meetings at 10:00 a.m. on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at the SFWMD's Miami Field Station, located at 9001 NW 58th Street, Miami.
