Background The Clean Cities Program began in 1993 with the creation of the Florida Gold Coast Clean Cities Coalition by Executive Order of the Governor and our subsequent Clean Cities designation by the U.S. Department of Energy. The Florida Gold Coast Clean Cities Coalition is a public/private advisory board composed of state legislators, local government representatives, federal and state agencies, and private sector representatives concerned with alternative fuel programs. The role of the Coalition is to provide a fuel neutral policy direction to maximize the use of vehicles operating on clean alternative fuels throughout the five county area. This area is composed of Broward, Martin, Miami-Dade, Monroe and Palm Beach counties. Council staff provides support to the Coalition through a contract with the Florida Department of Community Affairs. |
